If there is something specific that you are looking for that is not on our website, we will of course be happy to check with our butchers and farmers to see if we can supply this for you. If this is for something that we do not usually stock it would be a bespoke order, and there would be a surcharge of £15 for this service. If you would like us to quote for a bespoke order, please email [email protected] with your requirements. Our team requires a minimum of one weeks' notice for bespoke butchery requests.
The short answer is yes. Our meat is not your usual fare: from field to fork, everything has been crafted to ensure that you'll be getting the very best produce that money can buy. The heritage breeds that we offer are native to the British Isles and thrive by grazing in luscious pastures in the north of England, left to grow at their own pace. This is evident in the depth of flavour of the meat.
We are currently working on finding an alternative to nitrates, which are used in the lion's share of today's bacon curing processes. They are used to preserve the product. All ingredients can be found on the website by clicking on the "Product Ingredients and Allergens" tab on each web page. We will, of course, ensure our customers are updated on this development process.
Prior to the Brexit agreement we were shipping to customers within Europe quite regularly however we are no longer able to export fresh meat as easily. As a result, we have had to pause our exports to Customers in the EU or where parcels pass through the EU, this unfortunately currently includes Northern Ireland. We are monitoring developments and we are hopeful that there will be an update in due course. Due to delivery timeframes, we are not able to deliver to further afield than Europe such as Dubai or America and be able to secure the freshness of the produce. Sign up for our waitlist by contacting us here.

The large majority of our produce is delivered fresh and is suitable for freezing. Have a look for the 'freezable' attribute on product pages. Follow our ultimate guide for freezing and defrosting for best results. Any products that we despatch frozen will have a 'previously frozen' sticker or tag on images. These products will defrost in transit to you and cannot be refrozen.
All our produce is sourced from across the UK using the finest artisan farmers specialising in heritage breeds. These animals are reared on lush pasturelands and enjoy a high level of animal husbandry.
We are proud to be a gluten-free site, and all of our fresh meat products, including chef-prepared items, are now declared gluten-free.
However, products made by our trusted producers and suppliers may not be gluten-free, as their production facilities either cannot be declared gluten-free or the products themselves contain wheat-based ingredients (e.g., sausage rolls, wellingtons, and Yorkshire pudding batter mix). It is important to read the allergens & ingredients on each product page before purchase to ensure it satisfies your requirements.
We currently use DPD as our delivery courier. Your delivery will arrive in an insulated box, does not have to be signed for and will keep cool for up to 72 hours unopened. During the ordering process you will be asked to provide delivery instructions for the driver to deliver your order to should you not be home to accept it.
We work on the general basis of 1 rib to 1kg, so, for example, a 3.2kg joint will contain 3 bones, but sometimes 4, depending on the size of the animal.
Our Tomahawk Steaks have a longer bone than the Côte De Boeuf.
All of our deliveries to you are carbon neutral. DPD's 'Driving Change' is helping reduce emissions year-on-year by investing in hundreds of EV vehicles each year to decarbonise their fleet, as well as investing in Smart Urban Delivery and Innovative Entrepreneurship strategies. To offset remaining emissions, DPD finance renewable and cleaner energy production projects by purchasing carbon credits.

All our meat is cut fresh and packed to order at our hub in Ripon, just for you. Products containing pastry or our suckling pigs, or from time to time items marked as pre-frozen, cannot be frozen.
When you receive your order from Farmison & Co, it will arrive in one of our cardboard boxes, which is made from recycled cardboard and is 100% biodegradable. Once you open your meat box you will find a cool box made from moulded foam, these are extremely versatile and have a multitude of usages. All the boxes we send out need to maintain a food safe chilled temperature, to do this you will receive ice packs within your meat box. These are totally food safe and can also be re frozen to use again. We vacuum pack almost everything we supply; this keeps the dry aged meat perfect and allows for the maximum life to the product. You will love it because it allows you to use just what you need and leave the rest for another day. It is also great for allowing you to freeze a specific cut for later on.
On the outside of every packet which you receive, you will also find details of the product, the use by date and any allergens. Full details of all the ingredients and allergens can be found on our website on the specific product pages.
The Ingredients can be found on the product page on our website, this will also include allergens. Allergens can also be found on the product labels when they arrive. For nutrition information please contact our care team by emailing [email protected].
Cooking guidance and recipe cards can all be found on the product page of the website, and are available to download as PDFs.
We do not have our own farm, but we work directly with small local farms. We know our farmers, we've known them for years, and we know that by working with them closely every day, everybody wins. We get to send you the best meat, and our farmers can rely on a fair price, and trust in our support for traditional husbandry.
Organic is not one of our sourcing credentials. Our main sourcing criteria is well farmed, well finished, breeded meat from in or around the North Yorkshire area and occasionally outside of this county if we find the right supply.
However, our farmers do farm to organic standards but without the 'official' accreditation. Most of our farms have been around for generations and use traditional & non intensive farming practices to rear their livestock. This includes traditional feeding & finishing methods. We encourage our farmers to take advantage of Government Land & Wildlife Regeneration Schemes such as HLS. We do appreciate the merits of Organic farming, but we feel that the above scheme offers greater benefits than the standard 'organic' accreditation - to the environment but also the finished product.
Our cattle feeds on grass, silage, haylage and other meadow pasture grasses. All our poultry is reared on a rich and natural multi-grain diet including maize and they are finished on a variety of finishing grains such as brewer's grain, starches oats & barley. Our Sheep feed on the land they roam, with a natural diet of wild grasses, flowers, herbs, and heathers. A composite nut will be added during harsher winter months when grass can be scarce. This is to protect the welfare of the animal.
We do not routinely administer antibiotics, the only exception would be where veterinary intervention is specifically required for the welfare of an individual animal. Luckily, this is extremely rare due to the healthy and natural ways the livestock is reared and cared for.
The animals we source our meat from at Farmison & Co are not religiously slaughtered.
Here at Farmison & Co we do not have our own abattoir, but
we are proud to say we use very small local abattoirs. One of our
local farmers even has an abattoir on his farm site. We use the
closest abattoirs to the farms as possible to reduce transit time
and reducing the stress for our animals and keeping them as calm as
possible. Thus, also keeping our carbon footprint to a
minimum.
Every animal is slaughtered as ethically and humanely as possible.
All our slaughterhouses are BRC approved, some of which are members
of the HSA - Humane Slaughter Association.
Across our portfolio of abattoirs, our cattle are stunned with a combination of a captive bolt or penetrative bolt.
Our chickens, pigs and lamb are all stunned by electrocution.
They use a horizontal sticking technique for sheep and cattle, and vertical sticking for all pigs.
All our slaughterhouses adhere to the FSA Guidelines on the humane treatment of animals before during and after slaughter. We do not buy animals that have been religiously slaughtered - including pre-stunned.
We and our Farmers believe that the death of an animal commands the same respect as the life.
You can cook and enjoy the meat as normal. We pack all of our produce fresh after having been prepared by hand. On occasion, moisture may leak from the meat into the watertight packaging. This is completely natural, and you can simply wash this liquid down the sink when you're ready to open it. We do not under any circumstances soak our meat in water prior to packaging.
You might notice a slight green tinge to our festive turkey gravy. This varies from batch to batch and is by virtue of the fact we use only use natural whole vegetables ingredients to make our gravy. The natural particles of the vegetables colour the gravy. As long as the packet is within date, this is perfectly safe to eat.
Farmison & Co are proud to be industry leading in meat traceability and food provenance. We work with small, local farms and have close relationships with all of our farmers. This allows us to go above and beyond when it comes to meat traceability. Each pork joint or beef steak that ends up on your plate can be traced back to the free range pig or grass-fed cattle from which it came from, as well as the farmer or producer. This means we can be certain that we are only delivering the highest quality products.
