cooked cheesesteak sandwich

Named after John Montagu, Earl of Sandwich, & widely recognised as Britain's greatest contribution to gastronomy. In today's world, there's a whole raft of styles & ideas but ultimately a sandwich should be filled with your favourite filling. Here I've put some steak of my favourite sandwich ideas together with a modern twist, feel free to swap & change to your tastes and make the perfect steak sandwich for yourself.

the philly sandwich cooked

The F&Co Style Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich

An American-inspired sandwich filled with thin slivers of steak quickly fried & finished with caramelized onion and strips of roasted peppers & traditionally finished with melted Provolone cheese but in my version I've used a soft creamy mozzarella encased in a freshly baked sourdough baguette.

Best cuts: anything from thin slivers of fillet or rib steak through to sliced topside, rump heart or salmon cut silverside, must always be very thin slices to quick fry.

Mexicana Style Steak Sandwich Wrap

Here I've encased slivers of bavette steak with pickled red peppers, blackened spring onions & a powerful chipotle mayo finished with a squeeze of lime wrapped in a warm flatbread.

Best cuts: bavette or other cuts from the skirt, hanger or rump cap.

steak and cheese sandwich

Gourmet Steak & blue cheese sharing loaf sandwich

For this super treat I've scooped out a whole round loaf which easily feeds four & filled with shredded beetroot cooked down with red wine, red onions & finished with fresh lemon, carved sirloin steak then topped with Stilton & horseradish mayo & lots of lambs lettuce to finish, or watercress.

Best cuts: thick cut sirloin steak, cote du boeuf.
